A Request to KERALA PEOPLE – From Tamilnadu Chief Minister J.Jeyalalitha.
“There are many tamil people live in kerala and more than that there are many malayalam people live in Tamilnadu also. I request the wise malayalees not to become a victim of the politicians who are making conspiracy and using the poor people for their own political gains” – Said Tamilnadu Chief Minister J.Jeyalalitha.
TN Chief minister J.Jeyalalitha’s Statement:
“We received the news that the Sabarimala Pilgrims from tamilnadu were attacked by their Kerala brothers and the vehicles with the TN registration were also attacked by few people. Also, the tamil people who do business in kerala, the tamil journalists and industrialists from tamilnadu live in kerala were attacked due to the “Mullai Periyar Dam issue”. I request the ‘wise malayalam people’ who are living in the god’s own country not to believe the narrow-minded anti-socialists’ statement on the Mullai Periyar dam issue.
According to me, This issue has been brought to a critical situation due to the personal gain of few people live in kerala. In such situations it is natural that the people lose their temper and vent out the anger. It is the big responsibility and duty of the politicians/officials to explain the truth to the people and make them understand.
There is no definite proof that the Mullai Periyar dam is not safe and there’s no real threat that the dam will break and bring the life of people live in that area to a crisis. The Dam’s safety measurements are very well taken care of the experts in the related field and the commission deployed by the supreme court also agreed that.
We do not need to suspect or worry that the dam’s age is 116 years so that it is not safe. “Kallanai” which was built on Kaveri river by the great chozha king “Karikaal chozhan” is there for 1900 years and still is very strong. The “Kallanai” was built by the same building methods used for Mullai Periyar Dam, so there is no real threat to the Dam actually. Since the total Kerala is located at the Earth Quake region #3 there is no scientific proof that the dam will be affected by the natural forces.
Even though, the kerala people who are involved in this issue are very well aware of all these details, but yet they’re making conflicts for their trivial reasons.
Kerala is the neighbour state of Tamilnadu, moreover we were ONE STATE till 1950. Both Tamilians and Malayalees have a common langauge and cultural backgrounds. There are many Tamilians live in kerala and more than that there are many Malayalam people live in Tamilnadu. Both of them live with unity and maintaining a good relationship which we can be proud of. Tamilnadu government as well as the Tamil people never wanted their Kerala brothers and sisters to suffer. Because we know that the Mullai Periyar Dam is 100% safe we are requesting not to build a new dam.
I request the Kerala People, please do not spoil the relationship and respect that is there between the two states’ people for Hundreds of years. Kerala people are well educated and discreet. I really respect them. I hope they will understand the truth and the real situation on the Mullai Periyar issue and provide us the moral support.” - Said Chief Minister J.Jeyalalitha.
